English 2

English 2 is the continuation of English 1 and it's mostly about writing essays such as narrative and descriptive, argumentative, and many other things that academic English requires.

Assignment 1: Narrative Essay

In this assignment all students required to write a narrative essay about an object that they could choose such as those used in kitchen or on the desk. So I chose a cup and started writing a 5 hundred words essay.

              

Assignment 2: Compare-Contrast Essay

For the second assignment, student should choose two movies with same genre and write a compare-contrast essay. For this reason I chose two animated movie, The Lion King and Kung Fu Panda.

               

Final Assignment

Our final assignment topic was analysis of three businesses on different settings base on interviews by ourselves. So we chose a cafe in Penang and two other cafes in Klang Valley, one in Mont Kiara and the other in Subang Jaya. All the cafes analyzed from different aspects such as their background, products and services, competitors, and many other. After that our task was to write a report of all these interviews plus a ten minutes presentation. This assignment helped students in many  aspects, at first it thought us how to prepare questions and interviewing real businesses, next is how to write academic reports by using the skills learnt during the lectures, and at the end presenting the results of the interviews and analysis.

After all I have to say that this subject really helped me by teaching me principles of academic English that I need to study in university. For example I learnt many things such as writing different types of essays, about APA style references, and many others. We all so had an assignment which was an English debate and our topic was about divorces in Malaysia whether it is preventable or not. The final assignment was very helpful Personally English 2 as a continues of English 1 helped me more because it included more things that I didn't know before and now I feel that I'm ready for entering degree.
