Introduction to construction industry - ICI

Construction industry is the most important industry all over the world, because it's related to all industries and it can affect them.Construction is a high hazard industry that comprises a wide range of activities involving construction, alteration, and repair. Examples include residential construction, bridge erection, roadway paving, excavations, demolitions, and large scale painting jobs.

Since all FNBE students will continue in Architecture, QS or other related courses, ICI  is one one of the most important subjects which introduce construction industry to foundation students.

In this project as the first project which introduce us construction industry, all students required to go and interview with important persons in this industry such as Architect, Quantity Surveying, Contractor, and others in groups (each group one person) and as individuals prepare a six pages magazine about this interview. For this purpose our group after collecting letter from our lecturer, went for interview with Mr.Ranjeet Singh developer of Global Oriental Berhad which was a great meeting and I've learnt many things from this interview plus getting many advices which can help me in the future.

For our final project, introduction to construction industry, students required to shape groups with five students in each and after that each member should choose a role among Architect, Quantity surveyor, Engineer, Landscape Architect and Contractor. After each member chooses its role as groups they should choose a site in the campus and prepare a project brief. As individuals students should research on their role and building process, then prepare a company profile depend on their role in construction which includes logo, name card, letterhead, financial information, and others. Outcomes of this project were learning an introduction to construction process and key roles in it.
